Pleased to inform about the upcoming CREO Valley’s Digital Film Making Workshop is planned for 24th {WAS – 18th} August 2018 (and optional Photography Workshop on 25th {WAS – 19th} August 2018) at Bangalore in our campus.

During the workshop, sessions will help you hone your vision, organize your workflow plan. It will promote an open, interactive and creative atmosphere. Day is packed with hands-on practice, lively discussion and much more. All participants will receive participation certificate from “CREO Valley”.

Please note while it is a paid event for external students, any CREO Valley student can attend for free. Students enrolling can claim the fees as non-refundable deposit towards their course fees at CREO Valley. Further details can be found below.

Speakers at Workshop:

  •   Unni Vijayan (National Award 2011 – Editing): Mr Unni Vijayan is a well-known Director and Editor, his film ‘Lessons In Forgetting’, based on author Anita Nair’s book of the same name was awarded National Award. He is a Graduate from Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). He has since then worked with many directors as an editor till he got a call from Arowana studios to make ‘good cinema.’
  • Mr. Sethu Rathnam (Photography): A veteran photographer and academician leading the photography specialisation at CREO Valley Film and Television School. He was UNESCO archive photographer and won several awards for Documentary photography. He has very vast experience with world leading companies such as Kodak and AGFA, in the fields of photography for more than 40 years.

The tentative plan of the workshop is:

24th August 2018: Focus on Film Making

  • 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM – ” The art of Film Direction” by  Mr. Unni Vijayan, National Award winning Filmmaker, Director of “Lessons in Forgetting”.
    • From the banks of his vast experience and exposure to Filmmaking, Mr. Unni will be throwing light on the skills required for students to be filmmakers and means of acquiring a firm understanding on this powerful medium of storytelling.
    • Once we want to make films, we always are posed with various questions and doubts on where to start and our own filmmaking abilities. This session is aimed at demystifying the filmmaking process and most importantly, the process of understanding cinema through reading films.
  • 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM – “Cinematography in the Digital Era” by Panasonic team.
    • Panasonic team will be presenting latest developments in the field of cinema camera production and parameters one should consider in the process of choosing a Cinema Camera.
    • With growing number of DSLR cameras with videography features, what is the need for cinema cameras and various features will be discussed during the session.
  • 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM–  Lunch.
  • 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM – “A practical workshop on Scene Blocking and Lighting” by Members of Staff, CREO Valley Film and Television School.

25th August 2018: Focus on Photography (for the students who are willing to continue the sessions on Photography can continue the workshop on 19th August 2018).

  • 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon – ” The art of Photography” by Mr. Sethu Rathnam, Award winning documentary and archival photographer. Mr. Sethu will elucidate the importance of understanding the art of photography by controlling various factors that contribute towards forming the final image that you have dreamt of. He will throw light on (pun intended) various fields of photography such as food, fashion, product, architecture, interior, wildlife etc and the skills required for the aspiring photographers to pursue their career in the chosen fields of specialisation and the means of acquiring and developing the same.
  • 12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM – “A practical demonstration on Food Photography” by Members of Staff and Students, CREO Valley Film and Television School. A hands-on workshop where, the participants will be demonstrated how to approach a food photography assignment step by step right from the initial ideation to final execution of the image. Through the process, the participants will understand the importance of design and appropriate usage of lenses, exposure factors and light in achieving the desired image. The session will be collaborative and interactive, where participants will also contribute to the overall design and execution of the image, under the supervision of Mr. Sethu.

A hands-on workshop where, the participants will get to work on a set, equipped with professional camera and lights and understand the effect of lighting and lenses in constructing shots and scenes. The participants will be demonstrated as well as given a practical exposure on how to approach dividing a scene into various shots and explained the choice of lighting and lenses in detail. Participants would also know the roles of various crew members and the process of shooting a scene in a professional set.

The event is free for any of the CREO Valley Students. External participants are charged as per below:

    • On the spot Registration:Rs. 1,500/-
  • Students willing to register for both days:
